The Man in the Green Suit | An Unexpected Portrait Session in Cornelius, NC

Sometimes the best photoshoots aren't planned. Sometimes they literally walk right past your front door.

It was a pretty normal Sunday at my photography studio in downtown Cornelius. I was working between sessions when something outside caught my attention.

Or should I say, someone.

Across the way, a gentleman was grabbing a treat from the local peach cobbler shop.

Wearing the most FABULOUS bright green suit.

And if you know me, you know I love a good pop of color. Especially green.

Naturally, I was invested.

When a Stranger Walks By Looking THAT Good...

As he made his way past my studio, I knew I couldn't just let him keep walking without saying something.

So I did what any perfectly normal photographer would do.

I stopped a complete stranger and asked if I could take his picture.

His name was Lyndon.

And thankfully, he said yes.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect. My studio lights were already set up, my camera was ready, and I had a few minutes before my next session.

No appointment. No wardrobe consultation. No elaborate planning.

Just Lyndon, his incredible suit, and a photographer who couldn't resist.

THAT SUIT. THAT BACKDROP.

The second Lyndon stepped in front of the blue drapery, I knew these were going to be good.

The contrast between that bright green suit and the deep blue background was ridiculous. In the best possible way.

And Lyndon knew how to wear that suit.

We took a few different portraits, played with some expressions, and even made a few black-and-white images.

Which, by the way, feels almost offensive when someone is wearing a color that good.

But they looked incredible, too.

What started as me being a little nosy about somebody's outfit turned into one of the most unexpected portrait sessions I've had in my studio.

The Perks of Having a Studio in Downtown Cornelius

One of the things I love most about having my photography studio right in downtown Cornelius is the people.

You never really know who you're going to meet, who's going to stop by, or apparently, who's going to walk past your front door looking like THAT.

Lyndon, thank you for saying yes to a random photographer with a camera and a few minutes to spare.

And for giving me a very good reason to interrupt my Sunday.

To everyone else walking around downtown Cornelius, just know that if you're wearing something fabulous, I might stop you, too.
