Extended Family Session at
Dan Nicholas Park
There is something truly special about extended family sessions — the laughter, the generations, the shared stories, and the beautiful chaos that comes with photographing everyone together. This recent extended family photo session at Dan Nicholas Park was one of those sessions that reminded me exactly why I love what I do.
This sweet family has a special place in my heart. I’ve worked with one of the sisters several times over the years, and this time I had the joy of photographing her entire family — her sister and her family, and their parents, who are the proud grandparents to these amazing kids. Being trusted to capture these moments across generations is always such an honor.
Extended family photography goes beyond traditional family portraits. These sessions tell a bigger story — one that includes grandparents, adult siblings, spouses, and grandchildren all in one place.
During this session, I watched grandparents laugh with their grandkids, sisters joke with each other, and parents soak in every moment. These are the kinds of memories that only grow more valuable with time.
Years from now, these images won’t just be “photos.” They’ll be reminders of how it felt to be together in this season of life.
The bridge is one of my favorite spots in the park. It gives such a timeless, natural backdrop and photographs beautifully in every season — especially in autumn when the leaves start to change.
And of course, the ducks made a few surprise appearances, which led to some of the most genuine smiles and laughter of the day. Those unscripted moments are often my favorite to capture.
Balancing group shots while keeping everything relaxed and fun is always my goal. No stiff posing. No awkward smiles. Just real connection, real joy, and real moments.
This family made my job easy. They showed up ready to love on each other, laugh together, and trust the process — and it shows in every image.
One of the most meaningful parts of this session for me was working again with a client I’ve photographed many times before.
Watching families grow, change, and add new chapters to their story is one of the biggest privileges of being a photographer. Each session builds on the last, creating a visual legacy that spans years.
This time, being able to include grandparents and siblings made it even more special. It felt less like a “photo session” and more like spending time with friends.
At Mia Rose Photography, we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our clients. We understand that extended family photo sessions are not just about taking pictures; they are about creating an unforgettable experience.
